Taiwan's backlight module maker Zhongqiang Optoelectronics (5371) recovered in March 2011 and rose to NT$8.785 billion, up 42% month-on-month and 19% year-on-year. Accumulated Q1 consolidated revenue reached NT$20.67 billion, up 6% in the quarter, but down 3% annually. China Optoelectronics is expected to hold a legal person briefing on April 22, when the Q1 financial report will be announced.
China Optoelectronics pointed out that shipments of TV backlight modules reached 1.73 million units in March, up 36% month-on-month, LED backlight penetration rate reached 42%; display backlight module shipments were 2.74 million units, up 31% month-on-month, LED model penetration rate Up to 52%; and NB and tablet computer backlight module shipments reached 2.02 million, a 21% increase in month, and the penetration rate of LED models has reached 99%.
China Optoelectronics further pointed out that the demand for TV backlight modules will slow down. Only the shipment of tablet computer backlight modules will continue to be heavy, and it is expected that the shipment of backlight modules will be flat in April.
