Apple boosts AR/VR helmet shipments in 2021 to over 100 million

Electronic enthusiasts eight o'clock: After WWDC 2017, I believe everyone can see that Apple is very serious about AR/VR. There are iOS 11 ARKit on the software and a new iMac series on the hardware. To this end, IDC uses new data to predict the future of AR/VR. "By 2021, dedicated AR and VR helmet equipment will reach 100 million units." In comparison, this figure was less than 10 million last year.

IDC said that the screenless VR helmet that requires smartphone support to operate was once very popular, but the dedicated VR helmets from Sony, HTC and Oculus became popular before the end of last year.

IDC believes that VR helmets will continue to lead, but AR technology will have a greater impact on the entire industry. Users are likely to experience AR technology first through a mobile phone or tablet instead of a dedicated helmet, as evidenced by Apple's recent ARKit.
