The topic of "smart lighting" has not been reduced for many years. It is because everyone understands that this is an irreversible trend, but the actual real knife is very rare. Most of them agree that the traditional wiring is complicated, the user experience is not good, the pain point is not present, and the cost is high! Nowadays, wireless technology and the mobile Internet go hand in hand, and it is fortunate to win the hearts of users, which seems to be a good opportunity for the development of intelligent lighting.
However, if you can see it, you may not be able to take it. Baidu Li Yanhong once stated at a meeting: There are too many opportunities, I am very anxious. In this ever-changing world, opportunities have always been reserved for those who are prepared, but there are too many people to prepare. If you want to succeed, you must naturally go deeper. In the chicken soup school, "you are not lacking opportunities, you just lack the ability to grasp the opportunity", it is still very reasonable. This point can be seen from the questions raised by the guests who had previously asked Xiao Bian to the "Gaozhi LED Innovation Development Forum" held yesterday.
Yesterday, at the forum, Xiao Bian did not live up to the trust, and successfully handed the problem to the hands of Mr. Qi Shirong, the director of the interactive host Gao Zhi Research Institute and the director of GSC. He selected three questions and improvised the three guests at the scene. . These three questions revolve around the topic that everyone cares most about - "I saw smart lighting is an opportunity, but how is the problem broken?" The following is the answer compiled by Xiaobian according to the recording, which is much more exciting than imagined. If you are interested, please pull down.
Note: The interactive guests include Ms. Gu Yaoyao, CEO of E3 Control, Mr. Hu Ningdou, General Manager of Huace Optical Communication Technology, and Mr. Huang Feng, Director of Interconnected Lighting Standards of Philips Lighting (China).
Visible light communication positioning technology is similar
The cost of indoor positioning lamps only needs to increase by 1%~5%
Fan lindsay asked: What are the similarities and differences between Philips' VLC platform indoor positioning system, ByteLight's Beacon and Huace Optical's U-beacon? ByteLight's Beacon system embeds ByteLight chips in the lamp to achieve indoor positioning. Each new lamp costs 10 cents more than ordinary lamps. This is still a few years ago. Now Huace and Philips indoor positioning systems are more traditional. How much is the cost of the luminaire?
Huang Feng: From a technical point of view, it is similar, and there are certain differences in the fine control technology. Such as the coding and analysis of light and dark stripes, the frequency of stroboscopic, and the impact on the light quality after the addition.
For the cost, I am in the strategy department, there is no product price involved, so there is no way to share the information between the costs.
Yu Shirong: Dr. Huang is very modest. As the industry leader, he said that the products are all similar. This makes us feel pressured. If your cost pressure is similar to us, we can't live.
Hu Ningdou: Dr. Huang is very professional, and it is almost the same in terms of technical realization, because almost all paths have been exhausted. Then I will talk about the cost aspect mainly. In the absence of full mass production, Huazeguang's U-beacon will increase the cost by 1% to 5% compared to conventional lamps.
If this technology can't be sufficiently low-cost and versatile, in fact this technology load is not of much value on the LED. If the lights are installed and special modifications are required, as well as the general cost, it is better to use wifi and Bluetooth. The prerequisite for this technology to be promoted externally is that it is sufficiently low-cost and stable, and the impact on the original light quality is small enough (if the light quality loss is large, the technology should stay in the laboratory, do not come out).
This cost is mainly based on the fact that we are adding a chip to the original driver power supply. At present, it is about 2 yuan, but if it is produced in large quantities, then as mentioned by think tank fans, ByteLight only adds 10 cents to ordinary lamps. It can be done. But at the moment I don't believe it (ByteLight) can do it. Of course, I can't speculate. If I don't have mass production, I don't think it can be done.
Ruan Shirong: It seems that Hu is always at the bottom. If you are interested, you can pay attention to the price just mentioned.
Hu Ningdou: Yes, the bottom, why? Because we are now facing competition from various other technologies, if we stand in the LED industry, we should try to push our technology as soon as possible and become a de facto standard. Based on the positioning, the lights can be made cheap enough, but there is income on the terminal. If there is no income on the terminal, there will be income in the LVS operation. We can share it with the partners and even the project owners. of. We must first go to ensure that the technology is strong enough and cheap enough, otherwise it is difficult to launch it with only a few guns.

Artificial intelligence family is still far away
Fans and waves of water ask: What forms of interactive lighting will reach? At present, mobile phone APP control, remote control and other methods are actually very unsmart, especially for the elderly and children, and voice control, video and other biometric control methods, one is costly, and the other involves personal information confidentiality, how to achieve landing?
Gu Yaoyao: This question is very good. Interactive or user experience has always plagued smart homes. Take Philips as an example. When Philips' Hue just came out, it can only be controlled by mobile phone. There are many users who are very inconvenient to respond. When you get home, you must first pull out the phone, unlock, and then open the app to open the lights at home. very inconvenient. Therefore, the second generation of HUE products introduced a remote control, but everyone still feels inconvenient, because often when the lights are controlled, the remote control is not at hand. So many manufacturers later introduced voice-activated, gesture-controlled lights, and some manufacturers proposed the concept of installing a lot of cameras or sensors at home to perceive human behavior, predict people's needs, and use artificial intelligence to all of them. The lights are automatically controlled.
Let us first look at the efforts made by each role in the face of the above situation.
The practice of mobile phone manufacturers. Apple introduced a homekit, which can help the phone not to unlock, do not need to enter the app, directly under the phone interface, you can control on the notification menu page. Samsung and Xiaomi have made a control panel, and this is the same function.
The perspective of the remote control manufacturer. It is very cheap to make the remote control, such as making it easy to stick to the home, and it is convenient to control at any time.
Sensor angle. Install sensors in specific places, such as restrooms, corridor lights, etc., where people need to turn on the lights and people turn off the lights.
Next, let me talk about my views on artificial intelligence. I think sensing plus artificial intelligence will have a very good performance in the commercial field, but in the family field, I personally think that we still have a long way to go. The reason is that people's tolerance for lamp errors is very low. For example, artificial intelligence is the most widely used search engine field. When the accuracy of the search reaches 70%, people have already felt very good, but for the lights at home, if 90% of the time to obey, 10% of the time is not obedient, it is certainly not tolerable. That's why we still have a long way to go before artificial intelligence can control the family.
Huang Feng: I agree with Mr. Gu’s statement. The ultimate goal of control is for convenience. The APP is used to control the lights, but in retrospect it is pseudo-intelligent, which is inconvenient and more steps than the previous opening panels. So Philips later released a switch product called huetap, which can be attached to the wall or placed on a table. It can be used as a control for several groups of lights, that is, the traditional hand switch. But if you want to liberate your hands, you have to use your mouth, that is, voice control, so Philips Hue's APP can also achieve convenient voice control. For another example, the domestic voice company Keda Xunfei and Xunsheng can be used as a gateway for home intelligent control, that is, at home, the audio can be commanded and required to switch. In addition, it can also be controlled by the robot.
But the ultimate goal may be artificial intelligence, which can perceive people's emotions. If people are in a bad mood, it will soften and soften the music after it is perceived. This is our ultimate goal. But now this requires a lot of sensors, which in turn creates a privacy leak, and there is still a lot to go in this direction. It is expected that there will be great development in 2020.
In the era of LED 2.0, it’s too late to transform.
Trial and error, hold the thigh, break the subdivision...
Recognize yourself as a quick move
Fan GON asked: It is an indisputable fact that LED enters the low price era. If lighting companies want to survive and develop, they must kill the bleeding road and march into the field of intelligent lighting. But how do you enter and when? What are the obstacles after entering? Can you give some advice to these transformation companies?
Hu Ningdou: I have not been in the LED industry for a long time, before the communication industry. As long as it is a mature industry, whether it is lighting, communication or mechanical manufacturing, it will definitely be cheap.
How to transform? Regardless of the big companies, Huace is a small business. Let's talk about the transformation of small businesses and find their own way. We set up in September 2013, got some money, and it suddenly expanded. We want to do commercial lighting, O2O. But slowly walked down and found that indoor positioning, intelligent lighting, may be from the sub-sector, the line has gained the market, users and profits, in order to continue, in order to burn money. Now that I have turned around, I have made adjustments. This kind of sub-sectors like nuclear power and coal industry are just needed. They may provide new requirements for lamps, lamp holders, etc. that are loaded on the lighting. For example, lamps have new value applications, such as fixed points for sensors, control points, access points for the Internet of Things, etc., but this must not be burst out at once, but slowly found on the road. Our company was originally wrong, and it was adjusted later to do special industry. Now we only provide a core technology platform. Like Mulinsen has its own channels, there are a large number of information sources, you can take other paths, each company's road is different, but it must be just what you need, not the idea of the brain. Hue is a good product, but this kind of big company like Feidui can do it. There are a lot of companies in China that can't do it. Follow the needs of customers to go on.
Huang Feng: To do LED lighting, the first thing is to do the LED products themselves, such as the improvement of light quality and reliability. Then do smart lighting on this basis. If you make money through LED, you can go to development or acquisition.
For companies that have no leading position in the lighting industry, such as IC or control, they want to enter smart lighting. There are two ways to play, I don't know if it's right, but I can refer to it. One is to hold the thigh. For example, Jingdong, Xiaomi, and Ali have smart ecosystems, which have complete ecosystems, including chips, cloud services, application providers, and sales channels. All of them can enter the market faster. For example, Hangzhou Hongyan and Qingdao yeelight are examples of success; the second is to take a special market segment. For example, Huace's VLC (visible light communication) road has unique technical application fields, such as Yifang Tongda, which can uniquely combine lighting and air conditioning. For example, Ou Ruibo in Shenzhen also has unique technology.
Gu Yaoyao: Two points. The first is to seize the opportunity. I have witnessed the rise and fall of the mobile phone industry with all of you here. Ten years ago, Nokia and Motorola were still in the middle of the day, the industry boss, but after ten years, basically disappeared. (laugh)
We call smart lighting LED 2.0. Whether a company can successfully complete the transformation of intelligent lighting is likely to be related to the future of life and death. So how can it be done? My thoughts are very close to that of Huang Bo and Hu. I borrowed the words of Director Yu: Finding your own position. Is it clear what is your industry advantage? Is it a channel? product? Still production? Still able to minimize costs? Once you understand it, find out in the industry which companies can complement their strengths. Smart lighting is a big industry that cannot be made by a company. I believe that the future is for everyone to work together and complement each other to make it possible.
