Smart home industry standards are expected to be introduced by the end of the year

It is understood that due to the lack of standards for smart homes, Internet of Things companies are pursuing their own responsibilities, and the introduction of different international standards in technology directly leads to poor compatibility of smart home products, and difficulties in device interconnection and interoperability, thus failing to realize the overall integration of the smart home industry. In February of this year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the “12th Five-Year Plan for Development of the Internet of Things”. The country has included smart homes in nine key areas of application demonstration projects, bringing a second revolution to smart home development. In the smart home industry summit held recently, the smart home industry is brewing relevant standards and will be promulgated in the second half of the year.

Zhou Jun, secretary-general of the China Smart Home Industry Alliance, said that due to the lack of the underlying core technology, high product prices are also the reason that restricts the development of the industry. At present, most of the technologies mastered by domestic manufacturers are located at the network layer and application layer, and they lack core products and technologies with independent property rights. Some of the underlying core technologies and key components still rely on imports, leading to high overall prices of related products.

At present, smart home has passed the initial stage of speculation concept. Currently, the industry is through enterprises, research institutes, industrial bases and other multi-power, clear the "stumbling block" on the road to development of the industry, and promote the smart home industry into a healthy development track.

Zhou Jun said that in order to promote the construction and application of the domestic standard system in the form of coalition, the China Smart Home Industry Alliance is currently focusing on writing documents such as the "Smart Home Standard System," "Smart Home Blue Book," and "Smart Home Development Research Report." It will be introduced at the end of this year and is expected to become the standard basis for the smart home industry.

Experts from the Jiangsu Academy of Social Sciences stated that policy support, vendor alliances, and user-recognized smart home industry standards will jointly promote sound development of the industry. It is expected that the industry will gradually establish a smart home system platform in the form of a sound industrial chain in the second half of this year.
