OSRAM Opto Semiconductors introduces the new AdvancedPowerTopLEDPlus. This new color LED emits the brightest light and is the leader in its class. Compared with the previous products, the LED will directly increase the brightness of the backlight display by 15%, and its luminous efficiency will also make other LED products dwarf.
Depending on the display, this LED can cover more than 125% of the NTSC color gamut in a combination of common red (623 nm), green (527 nm) and blue (457 nm) colors, so it is suitable for direct backlighting of all sizes. Illuminated displays, especially those that are 24 inches or larger. These new star products require only a minimum of LEDs to provide an optimal display brightness to thickness ratio for rich, full-bodied colors.
The brightness enhancement of AdvancedPowerTopLEDPlus is mainly due to the special lens tailored for backlighting. At an operating current of 100 mA, the LED's illumination is now 14 lumens (red), 24 lumens (green) and 28mW/sr (blue). This newly developed lens ensures absolute backlight uniformity.
The LED packaged chip is developed using the latest ThinGaN (Indium Gallium Nitride) or Thinfilm (Thin Film) technology, and its edge length is only 500μm. Therefore, the LED achieves the highest luminous efficiency in its class. 65 lumens per watt (red), 59 lumens per watt (green) and 27% overall efficiency (blue).
This new LED has a service life of more than 50,000 hours, which perfectly matches the life of the display and monitor. Plus the LED's height is only 2.25 mm, so the very slim design of the backlight system can be achieved.
AdvancedPowerTopLEDPlus is suitable for displays of all sizes, especially those with a size of 24 inches or more. A project to create a 46-inch display-specific LED for large customers has begun. For this size display, 1200 new LEDs are sufficient. In the past, to achieve the same brightness, you need to add about 600 more LEDs.
