Lenovo’s NEC Holdings’ joint venture with Lenovo’s NEC Corporation Yonezawa Plant (located in Yonezawa, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan) plans to start production of Lenovo computers within the year, shorten delivery time, reduce transportation costs and risks, and increase brand image. At present, more than 90% of the world's computer market is produced in China. It can be said that the transfer of production capacity from China to Japan is a kind of "return." Other brands also have this trend, which is conducive to alleviating the "emptiness of the industry" caused by the appreciation of the yen. Pressure to increase job opportunities in Japan.

In October 2011, Lenovo Group and NEC Corporation jointly invested in the establishment of Lenovo NEC Holdings. The company plans to increase its market share in Japan's computer market from the current 25% to approximately 30% in the next three years. In the past, Lenovo customized a personalized computer according to customer requirements, delivery takes about 10 days, can be shortened to 3 days through the transfer of the production line, while reducing transportation costs and damage rate during transportation, in addition to using the Japanese production line to improve product quality , reduce the defective rate, use "Made in Japan" selling points to increase product visibility.

Other computer brands also have this trend. US Hewlett-Packard Company began using the factory in Akishima City, Tokyo, to produce commercial notebook computers in August last year, shortened delivery time and improved brand image with “Made in Tokyo”; Fujitsu also restored its presence in Shimane and Fukushima.
