LED package adhesives are part of the LED industry, and its development is closely related to the status of the LED industry. With the continuous improvement of power-type white LED manufacturing technology, the requirements for packaging adhesives are getting higher and higher. The current LED packaging glue market is still in a state of disorderly competition, with low price competition and frequent price wars. In addition to the traditional Dow Corning and Shin-Etsu companies are in a monopoly position, the glue companies that have sprung up in China are generally uneven in scale and product quality, and cut into the market from low-end applications to low-priced products. Dominate the market.

Overseas companies still dominate

According to statistics from the High-tech LED Industry Research Institute, there are currently about 1,500 LED-encapsulated silicone companies in China, but they are mainly concentrated in the low-end market. Although the number of mid- to high-end packaging companies is gradually increasing with the advancement of technology, the high-performance silicones currently used for packaging are still mostly imported.

From the market share of silica gel enterprises at home and abroad, it shows that the turnover of all domestic silica gel enterprises is less than one-third of Dow Corning's one year. It can be seen that in the silicone market, foreign companies have an absolute advantage.

Zhang Jiaxian, R&D director of Shenzhen Ruifeng Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. also said that the packaging glue currently used by Ruifeng is still an internationally renowned brand such as Dow Corning and Shin-Etsu. Zhang Jiaxian explained: "Because Dow Corning, Shin-Etsu and other international manufacturers have a long history of research and development in the field of encapsulation, they have certain advantages in product stability, and domestic high-end packaging companies generally use quality assurance in order to stabilize quality. Glue."

Regarding whether the domestic products will be selected in the future, Zhang Jiaxian told the senior engineer that Ruifeng is currently testing and evaluating the products of several domestic glue manufacturers, and there may be plans for cooperation in the follow-up. "With the advent of the lighting era, reducing costs is the key to promoting the widespread use of lighting products, which is an opportunity for domestic manufacturers." Zhang Jiaxian added.

At present, the three major silicone companies in the world, Dow Corning (USA), Momentive (USA), and Shin-Etsu (Japan) have an absolute advantage in the domestic market and occupy the high-end packaging market. Taiwan's Tianbao, Changxing, Jieguo, Tianli and other silicone companies have an important share in the domestic mid-end packaging market.

"At present, domestic silica gel enterprises have just started, mainly concentrated in the low-end market, and the high-end market is still occupied by foreign companies." Wang Lei of LED Technology Development Department of Beijing Kehua New Material Technology Co., Ltd. told reporters.

Zhai Dingxin of the technical department of Shenzhen Anpin Silicone Material Co., Ltd. also pointed out that due to the large number of LED packaging companies, the products are similar, the materials used are similar, in order to reduce the packaging cost and occupy the market, the low price of glue has certain attraction for packaging enterprises. , which in turn leads to disorderly competition in the market.
