LED backlight market grows rapidly and technology continues to improve

According to estimates by the Korean industry research institute DISPLAYBANK, the global market for light-emitting diodes (LEDs) has grown at an average annual rate of 26% from 2008 to 2013. Among them, the panel backlight and lighting market grew by an average of 121% and 52% respectively.

Recently, Samsung and LG (LG) have made large-scale strategic investments in order to improve their competitiveness in the LED industry in response to the vertical integration of LED chips and packaging into LED downstream applications.

At the same time, related equipment and semiconductor design companies are also optimistic about the development of the LED market, and are actively investing in related equipment and semiconductor development.

At the beginning of last year's Edgetype LED-backlit TV, the industry adopted four design methods of four sides, namely, two light bars on the upper and lower sides of the panel and one light bar on each of the left and right sides. After the LED market is warming up, Samsung Electronics has unveiled a new model of 3D LED LCD TV. The new LED backlight is different from the old ones. The left and right sides of the 4 sides are all wrapped in the design, using the two upper and lower sides of the four LED strips. Simplify the design.

In order to reduce costs, the industry has adopted the LED backlight module to simplify the design, and try to design a single-sided two-sided or single-sided single-side light-emitting method.

Absolute Encoder

Absolute rotary Encoder measure actual position by generating unique digital codes or bits (instead of pulses) that represent the encoder`s actual position. Single turn absolute encoders output codes that are repeated every full revolution and do not output data to indicate how many revolutions have been made. Multi-turn absolute encoders output a unique code for each shaft position through every rotation, up to 4096 revolutions. Unlike incremental encoders, absolute encoders will retain correct position even if power fails without homing at startup.
