Recently, Apple passed two new patents on how devices interact with each other, allowing them to interact with Mac or iOS devices through 3D gestures and space.
These two patents relate to a detailed and advanced 3D camera input system. First, the first patent number is No. 9417706, which includes a camera motion sensor that can jump from one interface state to another by recognizing the user's gesture. The second patent, No. 94177763, can detect the position of the mobile device in space and determine the relative motion and the identification reference object, such as the user's face, through the sensor.
The first patent only requires a camera to be connected to a computer system to perform a specific operation through a specific action. According to patent documents, this webcam recognition system is not limited to desktop connections, but can also be connected to other devices.
From the examples in the patent, the user can raise the arm, including push, zoom, etc., to start the computer's monitoring operating system, and other controls can be performed through new gestures.
The first patent also mentions an operation similar to the "slide unlock" of iOS devices, except that the operation is done in the air, not the touch surface.
The second patent is more inclined to augment the reality platform, the device by tracking the user's face sideways movement, flipping up and down, flipping information left and right. Devices equipped with this technology will not only track the relative distance between the device and the user but also the user's eye position.
From the patent description, one of the most practical applications for this patent is the driver function of a high-performance GPU program, that is, when the user is not looking for the device or is not looking at the device screen, the battery is turned off.
The first patent was submitted in May 2014, and the second was submitted in December 2014. However, there is no indication that Apple has used these two patents in the product. It is important to know that Apple applies for a large number of applications every year. Patents, but few of them are used in actual products.
